Hummer H2 2010
Take your Hammer and drive it sexy: CFC company with its head office in Weilheim has trimmed its Hummer with a striking “chrome” lamination. Tarted up with every imaginable outfit, the sport-style H2 steadily takes the lead. Some vehicles are completely laminated afterwards, the others, on the contrary, already have it right inside. The Hummer by CFC has it both: it’s a Hummer to stare at and to speak about.

The trend of decorating a car with film to create a noticeable work of art had already been attempted by the CFC years ago. In the meantime, this exceptional art of car lamination was outstandingly applied… and this is really great!

The motor hood was covered with CFC ExteriorStyle Premium “black carbon”, and side windows, along with the rear window, were furnished with CutLine ThermoTec of the “classic-style” colour.

The installed 28-incher TunerShop light-alloy tyre rims, for example, produce the same attractive and fear-arousing effect as the outside appearance. They carry mammoth-sized 325/35 R28 pneumatic tyres by Kumho.

The Wimmer technology of performance improvement by means of software optimization by 480 hp, LSD wing doors, as well as FOX sports exhaust system make every Hummer a dangerous monster of the streets.

The Hummer driver can enjoy the saucy performance to the full in a totally stuffed cabin:

Car Entertainment devices create a sort of incantation here. Among other things, there are 17 Axion displays (on the ceiling, sunscreen, central console between the front seats, trunk and doors), a DVD-player, XETEC amplifiers, XETEC subwoofers and digital television to feast your eyes on. For the “musical therapy” a 1.360-Watt RMS music system is available.

Front and backward movement cameras simplify the parking process. Everyone who appreciates convenience can comfortably sit on the leather couch right next to the mini-bar. No other thing compares to the mix of leather and Alcantara which was used as coating material for the most of surface of seats and saloon siding and was covered by the auto tuners Zwickenpflüg.

Hummer H2 2008
With a totally revamped interior, and a new engine putting out nearly 400 horsepower, we expected to see the 2008 Hummer H2’s price rise significantly. We were wrong – the base price of the 2008 Hummer H2 is only $1000 higher than its 2007 counterpart. The 2008 base H2 will include many of the features we see in the 2007 luxury package, like upgraded leather, padded center console and arm rest surfaces. The 2008 Hummer H2 will also have remote start. We expected with all these extra options the base price would be more than $55,510 (not including the $900 destination charge) for an SUV. The 2008 Hummer SUT rolls in a little higher at $55,555, for a $1,400 increase over 2007. The Luxury package which will be much more inclusive in ‘08 runs $6410. Just like the ’08 Hummer H3, the upgraded color choice is relatively inexpensive. The Solar Flare Metallic color (seen above), exclusively on the new H2, will only run an extra $295. We’re excited about the pricing – since we were expecting the luxury ’08 models to be around the $70,000 mark. Now we just need to get them produced!

On the Road in the H2

Driving the H2 is a lot like driving a truck -- heck, it is a truck. As one of the widest SUVs on the road (81.2"), the H2 demands your attention in every on-road situation. It would be way too easy to crowd fellow motorists to the shoulder or to take out a mailbox and some shrubbery. The H2's high stance gives you a commanding view of the road, and visibility all around is pretty good -- way better than in the H3, actually.

Under the hood of the H2 lives a 6 liter V8 that generates 325 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. The H2 weighs in at an astounding 6,400 lbs -- that's over three tons! Power is more than adequate, though the H2 is not fleet of foot by any means. It does deliver a smooth, controlled ride on the road, with a minimum of body roll, but good steering feel.

The H2 is famous for its off-road capability. My test H2 was equipped with a $1,275 Air Suspension package, which can raise ground clearance from 9.9" to 10.8" and approach, departure and breakover angles to astounding levels. The H2's undercarriage is well-protected with factory installed skid plates. With electronically locking rear differentials, traction control and 4-wheel drive, the H2 would be quite an expensive, luxurious way to explore your off-pavement fantasies.

Jason Fogelson is a member of the About Autos test drive team--you've probably read some of his other reviews on About Trucks. It sounds like he entered his week of driving the HUMMER H2 with reservations, not sure that he'd enjoy it one bit. That's not how it turned out--he gave the vehicle 4 out of 5 stars--and I have a feeling he would have been happy driving it awhile longer.

Hummer H1 Alpha 2006

The new H1 Alpha, featuring GM’s award-winning Duramax 6600 diesel engine, is the first in HUMMER’s new performance series and represents the single greatest advance in the 14-year history of the original HUMMER. The H1 Alpha delivers more power, more torque, and enhanced on- and off-road capability, with significantly improved fuel economy. It represents HUMMER performance taken to its ultimate extension.
